BASIC BBQ SAUCE

Bring on the BBQ sauce. We've come up with a great one that you can customize with our pantry of silky, dark balsamics to use any season, anytime on almost anything. It's an essential dipping sauce for your charcuterie and cheese boards, too. Here's our basic recipe.

INGREDIENTS:
1 cup ketchup
2/3 cup Traditional 18-Year-Old balsamic vinegar
2 tbsp Worcestershire OR soy sauce
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup brown Sugar
1/2 tsp fine Kosher salt
Optional: 1 tbsp smoked paprika and 1/2 tsp liquid smoke

You can slather BBQ sauce on pretty much anything. While bottled BBQ sauce delivers on convenience and price, and there's some fantastic award winning brands on the shelves, they might miss the mark when it comes to a spirited, additive-free flavour of a homemade sauce.

Pomegranate
Black Mission Fig
Maple
Blackberry/Ginger
Strawberry
Apricot
Peach
Mango
Toasted Sesame Oil: For an Asian twist, add 1 tsp

DIRECTIONS:
Whisk all ingredients in a medium saucepan on medium heat. Bring to a gentle boil and then reduce to a simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until the sauce thickens. More simmer is better than less. Set aside until cooled. You can store the BBQ sauce in an airtight container in your fridge for at least a couple of weeks.
