It's a brave, new mixology world out there. Cocktails incorporatiing shrubs. Trending Alcohol Free drinks are complex. Beer and effervescent rose wine are the new mixers. And all roads lead to our gorgeous infused balsamics.
Most classic cocktails share one thing in common: a ratio of 1 part sour, 1 part sweet and 2 parts alcohol. So it's no surprise that our collection of dark and white balsamics make them the perfect drink since they are both sweet and sour. Having a few flavours on hand will have your guests believing you went to bartending school. And these cocktails finally have an AF counterpart!
A fun way to infuse your drinks with fruity balsamics is to make ice cubes. Fill your ice cube tray with your white balsamic of choice and freeze. Place cubes in a glass before pouring in your selected alcoholic beverage. Then add a generous splash of soda or sparkling water.
For a salty treat, rim your glasses with our hand-harvested sea salts, especially drinks that include citrusy balsamics.
Some of the new classics:
WHISKEY SMASH COCKTAIL
The Whiskey Smash is a classic cocktail that originated in the 19th century, during the golden age of cocktails. It's a refreshing and well-balanced warm weather drink that combines the bold, smooth flavours of rye whiskey with the bright, cooling notes of mint and the subtle tartness of lemon.
INGREDIENTS:
2 oz rye whiskey
1 oz Sicilian Lemon white balsamic
1 tsp Lemongrass Mint white balsamic
1 tsp simple syrup (or more to taste)
Ice
Lemongrass or mint sprig for garnish
DIRECTIONS:
In a cocktail combine ice, whiskey, balsamics and simple syrup. Fill with ice and shake vigorously for about 10-15 seconds to chill and combine the ingredients.
Strain the mixture into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a lemongrass or mint sprig.
THE BLACK CHERRY "KIR" ROYALE
Place 1 tsp Black Cherry dark balsamic in a champagne flute or white wine glass. Pour sparkling white wine, Prosceco or Champagne.
THE COCKTAIL COOLER
Place 2 teaspoons of any one of our white or dark balsamics in a glass or shaker. Add ice, then add 2 teaspoons of your favourite vodka or gin, tequila or whiskey. Shake or mix well. Pictured above is our vodka cooler with Cascadian Raspberry white balsamic. We suggest having Lemon and Lime balsamics on hand. They're essential ingredients in most drink recipes.
A BERRY MOCKTAIL
The variations are endless. For a classic Italian soda, simply add 2 teaspoons of any one of our white or dark balsamics to ice. Then pour soda or sparkling water. Mix well. Shown above is our slightly savoury Blackberry Ginger dark balsamic with soda.
THE SUMMER ICED TEA
Add a splash of Sicilian Lemon or Orange-Vanilla white balsamic for an extra vibrant iced tea.
THE ROSE COCKTAIL
How easy can it get? A simple bottle of pink Rose wine. A helping of sparkling water, and a splash of any one our "berry" infused white balsamics, makes an ordinary glass of wine into a very special cocktail. A refreshing patio sipper.
FRUITY BEER
What would a summer BBQ be without beer. Taking it to a whole new level, brewmasters have started infusing their beer with fruits. And you can, too. Just pour 2 teaspoons in the bottom of a beer glass and then pour in your best craft beer and you'll be refreshed with a tart, slightly sweet drink that goes perfectly with your burgers, hot off the grill.
CUBA LIBRE WITH A COCONUT TWIST
(aka Rum & Coke)
Coconut. It's a prized ingredient in countless tropical cocktails. And now that we're so close to summer temperatures it's a wonderful time to add a teaspoon of our Coconut infusion to your Rum & Coke. Don't forget the splash of Key Lime white balsamic. Yum!
FRUITY AF COCONUT SODAS
Everyone loves coconut when the temperature rises. Nice to know that you don't have to buy special ingredients to make a sparkling coconut refresher. A splash in any lemonade or unsweetened drink gives a tropical vibe.
