PORK & APPLE BURGER

The succulent pork patty, interspersed with tender chunks of apple provide bursts of sweetness and a subtle crunch. With melted sharp cheddar our pork burger is a uniquely satisfying experience that balances richness, fruitiness, and a hint of Mediterranean flair.

INGREDIENTS:

1 lb (450g) ground pork
1 medium apple, peeled, grated and squeezed dry
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1 garlic clove minced
1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves, chopped
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 tbsp EVOO or infused Garlic EVOO
1 slice sharp cheddar
Optional: 1 tbsp fresh chopped thyme leaves

4 burger buns

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. In a large bowl, combine pork, apple, onion, garlic, (chopped thyme, if using) salt, and pepper. Mix well but don't overwork the meat. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties, about 1/2 inch thick. Brush both sides of each patty with EVOO. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). Place cheddar on 2nd side of burger after first flip. While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the buns on the grill if desired. Remove the burgers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes. Assemble the burgers on the buns with your choice of toppings.
