Made with just a few basic ingredients homemade pizza dough not only offers a fresher taste compared to store-bought but also allows for experimentation with different thicknesses and flavours making it a popular choice for pizza aficionados. Our recipe yields one large pizza or two medium.
INGREDIENTS:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
1 cup warm water
2 tbsp fresh EVOO (for flavoured dough add infused EVOO of choice)
DIRECTIONS:
In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and sugar. In a separate small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil to the flour mixture. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size. Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface to fit your pizza pan. Add your desired toppings and bake in a preheated oven at 450°F for 15-20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
[For later use, place in plastic storage bag in fridge for up to a week. Bring it to room temperature before using.]
